I have heard their cry;
I will be with you!

Reflections on human trafficking

SRTV, the Dutch Foundation of Religious against Trafficking in Women, compiled this folder with reflections on Human Trafficking. The folder ‘I have heard their cry; I will be with you! holds 5 booklets with bible reflections, deliberations, prayers and texts. All booklets can be used in small prayer gatherings, Celebrations, as suggestion for homilies, as material for Catechetical meetings. The material is very suited for using with youth.

Awareness grows
Human trafficking is as old as humanity and is a worldwide phenomena, it occurs maybe even in your own neighbourhood. Women and children are especially vulnerable to become victims. This crime often remains unpunished. As awareness grows more and more people feel the need to fight this inhuman and degrading crime. Some are motivated by their religious conviction, others by humane compassion. Many other do not know how to react.
The SRTV (Dutch Foundation of Religious Against Trafficking in women) was founded in 1991 to actively show solidarity with oppressed women. SRTV fights human trafficking and contributes to the creation of a respectable future for the victims of this worldwide trade. This initiative of Sr. Michel Keesen lit a little flame which has spread like wildfire. It required hard and dedicated work and, for sure, more work has to be done. In the past years all over the world active networks of religious have evolved. These networks are convinced that they will make an impact.

Usable booklets
The prayers and texts originate from all over the world. The compilers intention was to make a useful booklet of texts and prayers. The psalms and songs can be shared and sung by many. The prayers may be changed with other prayers in this booklet or may be taken from other sources. The reflections in the booklets were written by the Dutch Carmelite Carlos Mesters for the Conference of Brazilian Religious. He is an exegete and works as a missionary in Brazil. There too, religious have become active in the struggle against human trafficking. The illustrations are made by Dutch Franciscan sister Ludwina Foolen, sfic.
The folder was made possible because the work of SRTV is financial supported by the Conference of Dutch Religious (KNR).

The folder is especially made for religious involved in the fight against human trafficking. But all who feel connected to victims of human trafficking can feel inspired and strengthened.

We hope that you will find strength and inspiration in these booklets.
